Our time in the lovely Vail and area came to an end and we packed the RVs to start the journey south. Leaving Vail at 09:00 we had 3807 miles on the clock and were ready to add some more. On the way to Denver we passed through the Johnson Tunnel, our highest point in this adventure – about 11193ft! After the tunnel it was all the way “downhill” and we soon entered the flay prairies of Kansas again. After the spectacular mountain views of the past week it was quite a change to see a different beauty that reminded us all of the Free State back home. We arrived at the RV park in Oakley (we didn’t see any sunglasses laying about!?) for our first overnight rest…
