We set off early from Keystone heading west towards Yellowstone, our next destination.

There were a couple of routing options – one through Montana, or a little more south, a scenic route through the Rocky Mountains. After much deliberation at the Wyoming state line Welcome Centre (oops, American spelling CENTER),  we opted for I-90 through Montana… which was changed to the more scenic (slower) route that will see us get to West Yellowstone by driving through the park!

Most of us, in particular the drivers, enjoyed ALL of the scenic route, while some other members of our travelling party had some other ideas…

The drive was spectacular and the changes in scenery amazing. The landscape around us literally changed about every 50 miles, from mountain pine forests, to majestic stone cliffs through the Rocky Mountain passes, to open plains of golden hay, to undulating green hills, and more!

The last 50 miles or so into Cody (our rest stop for the night) we had to negotiate winds that were at times scary! A cross wind against the flat sides of an RV really took effort and concentration!! Once parked at the Walmart ( not a 24-hour shop!?) we set off for some local, imported cuisine in the form of a Chinese Buffet. YUMMY! Then a quick walk through the town of Cody and it was off to an early night!
